Penny was found on a busy street in Memphis. A nice lady got her out of the street and contacted a MAGRR member for help. She said their little dog did not get along with Penny, but informed that she was a very nice dog. We agreed to take her since there didn’t appear to be anyone looking for her and in her condition it seemed she had been on her own for a while. Once our member got her home, she realized how thin she was. Her skin was in poor condition (red skin and very thin fur) and she was infested with fleas. Penny was bathed, fed, and loved at our house for a week until she was officially taken in as a MAGRR girl. We of course, we were happy to help to get this girl into good health.
Penny has been wonderful with dogs (males, females, large, and small) and does very well with cats. She has not had an accident in the house but one time when we first got her and she crates nicely. I suppose Golden Retrievers get their name for having such golden personalities, but I’ve never met one as golden as hers. She dotes on her humans, snoozes in the sunshine, and loves to toss her head out the car window to feel the breeze in her fur. She will make a remarkable family dog once she is over her heart worm treatment. She is certainly a special little “pocket” golden.
