Moxie was a humanitarian Intake for us. She was taken into a local rural high kill shelter yesterday by a city worker. We have heard so many less than stellar reports about this shelter. The newest one is that the head AC automatically euthanizes any dog that comes in with an injury. This girl would have been euthanized today if one of their volunteers hadn’t gotten in touch and asked us to take her. Moxie’s injury is from an embedded collar. She was likely tied outdoors for a very long time for this to happen. They continued to feed her and never checked her collar. The area where the collar was cut off is infected and I cannot even describe the smell. Moxie is very sweet and has a gentle mouth. She appears to be a small golden mix. The volunteers did send us a video of her with another dog and she was non-reactive. I left the halter and leash that the volunteer left with me. No way a leash can go around her neck. She had to have been in such severe pain and yet is still so happy to have a human touch. She is going to get great medical care and watch as this girl turns in to a beautiful creamy swan.
