Intake Report

October 19, 2021

This sweet fellow found himself in a rural Tennessee pound through no fault of his own.  His owner was sent to jail and Gus was too.   The rural area doesn’t have an actual dog shelter, and stray dogs are kept by the police department.  Gus has been there for about a month and was about to be euthanized because they didn’t have any other options.  A rescue friend reached out to us about Gus, and helped get him to us.   His dog tag says he is a service dog for PTSD/anxiety.  I don’t think he’s had any formal service dog training but is very sweet.   He was current on a rabies and we were able to track down that vet record through the State of TN rabies tag info to the Milan Animal Hospital.  There were no other records on file but we did get a date of birth of May 11, 2017.

He’s got beautiful copper colored eyes and a healthy coat, but can definitely use a bath.  He’s got a Golden smart knot and Golden personality, walks pretty well on the leash, and rode well from Brownsville to CPH.  He enjoyed sitting in the back seat looking out the window.  He was very playful with Deb’s dog Ali, an Aussie/Border Collie mix and greeted several dogs at the clinic without any reaction other than happy tail wags.  I’m so glad we were able to spring him from jail!
