Intake Report

This boy has adjusted very well. He is now crate trained and house trained. He doesn’t make a sound until I decide to let him out each morning. He loves other dogs! He really needs another dog or 2 to live with. He enjoys playing with toys and especially tug-of-war with my Golden. He’s been great with my grandchildren. He does not jump up on anyone. He knows how to sit. He has also learned a stay for his food. He is an awesome dog!

Dutch, a 1-2 yr. Golden/Pyr mix was rescued by a Little Rock rescue in mid-October. They are mainly a beagle rescue. They have not been able to find him a good home. We have been friends with the lady who runs this rescue for many years and we were glad to help out. Dutch’s former foster lived on a small farm, so he has been living with and exposed to many kinds of animals. He is good with chickens, cats, small livestock, children, and other dogs. However, he is not particularly fond of Peacocks. He never tried to harm one, he just didn’t “understand” them. His former foster raised 2 litters of puppies and she didn’t want to let him go until they were all adopted because he was so helpful with them. He would carefully carry them around and be quite helpful in entertaining them. He would drag a rope around for them to chase and play with. He did not really pull on the leash, but he doesn’t appear to have leash skills either. He was easy to introduce to my 3 dogs and there was never any growling or negative behavior. He has a very soft mouth.
